Take a special trip to Town East Mall in Mesquite. Youll be glad you visited this icon of Dallas shopping malls. If you havent been to Town East Mall in a few years, its not the same mall you remember its better. In just a minute, Ill share with you the top ten reasons to take a trip to Town East Mall.
But first, a Town East Mall brief history lesson. Dont worry though theres no test afterwards.
Its design was unique and even now, its different than any other mall in the Dallas Fort Worth area. The center core of Town East resembles a white circus tent, albeit an enormous one, with a tower in the middle. It can be seen from miles away.
Sure, Town East Mall is convenient to Mesquite and Garland, but why should you take a trip from other metroplex cities?
One of the main factors for me is that it has an Auntie Annes pretzel shop. Any mall that has an Auntie Annes moves to the top tier in my list of personal favorite malls. On my recent visit to Town East, I bought a couple of pretzel dogs at Auntie Annes then took them up to the Food Court to enjoy.
Here are the afore-promised top ten reasons to take a trip to Town East Mall.
194 stores (at last count).
15 perimeter stores to add to your shopping convenience.
Convenient location at the intersection of LBJ Freeway (I-635) and Town East Blvd.: In between I-30 and Highway 80.
Unique design: Like a giant wheel with spokes.
Divided into three neighborhoods, Cityside, Lakeside, and Parkside, so its easy to keep track of where you are.
The afore-mentioned Auntie Annes.
Extended Sunday hours: 11:00AM 7:00PM.
Remodeled and updated in 2005.
Kid-friendly: Trophy Nissan Play Area and Happy Train ride.
Centrally located Food Court: 11 restaurants make their home on this third level. Sit above it all and watch all of the action below.
If youre going to Town East Mall via I-30, get on I-635 south and exit at Town East Blvd. From Highway 80, go north on I-635 and exit at Town East Blvd. From I-20, take I-635 north and exit at Town East Blvd.
There may be a slight road construction delay through 2007, but not bad at all.
So what are you doing this weekend? May I suggest you carve out a little time and head over to Town East Mall in Mesquite. And while youre there, eat a pretzel for me.

These days all I hear about is how Town East is going down compared to Northpark and the other high class malls. But, I think that Town East Mall has always been for the down to earth people. And, I know that my grandfather would be proud.
